2024 Verdelho
The color is medium yellow with green flints. The wine opens with fresh aromas of Granny Smith apples followed by citrus aromas of grapefruit, lime, orange zest and kiwi. With time and air in the glass, ripe fruit aromas evolve: apricot, pear, and honeydew melon, even tropical notes of guava and mango. The mid-palate is full-bodied and coating. The finish is lingering, crisp and refreshing.
Food Pairings: Our Verdelho enhances seafood such as scallops, prawns, and filet of sole. It also excels with niçoise salad, sliced fruits, and a variety of cheeses: both savory and creamy. This is a multi-faceted wine for all occasions.

Similar flavors follow, along with baking chocolate, damp forest floor and blackberries. Subtle French oak is in the background. The mouthfeel is full, round, rich, and velvety which is unusual for Charbono which can have chewy, sometimes drying tannins if harvested underripe. The finish is long and elegant with fine grain tannins for aging.

The palate is rich, textured, and slightly chewy. The finish has fine-grain tannins which are typical of higher elevation terroirs.

Flavors follow with an essentially black fruit profile: lingonberry, cassis, cardamom, dark baker’s chocolate and nutmeg. With time the elegance of French oak appears. On the palate, the texture is rich, mouth filling, velvety smooth with fine grain tannins for aging. We recommend decanting or aeration before serving to increase aromas and mouthfeel.
