The color is a deep dark red with a purple hue. The wine opens with a brooding black fruit profile of cassis, licorice, and dark baker’s chocolate. The flavors are similar with hints of damp earth, blackberries, exotic spices and French oak. The mouthfeel is elegant, rich and silky which is unusual for Charbono which usually has chewy, sometimes aggressive tannins. The finish is very long with fine grain tannins for long term aging.

Food Pairings: The wine pairs well with wild game, osso buco and sharp cheeses.

2020 Rockpile Zinfandel

The color is a deep magenta red with a purple hue. The wine opens with a red fruit profile and spicy notes. As it opens in the glass, blackberries, brambles, pepper with hints of clove, rosemary, and cinnamon emerge. The wine is round and rich, even silky on the palate. It finishes with fine-grain tannins reminiscent of Cabernets, which is very typical of Rockpile Ridge, being high elevation with dry soils.

Food Pairings: Zinfandel classic pairings include grilled lamb, grilled beef and ribs though it goes beautifully with pastas, stews, and hearty cheeses too.

The color is medium yellow with green hues. The wine opens with fresh aromas of Fuji apples followed by citrus aromas of orange, pineapple, lemon zest and kiwi. With time in the glass, a second wave of riper aromas appears: honeydew melon, pear and apricot with tropical notes of papaya and guava. Flavors follow through from the aromas. The wine finishes crisp & racy yet silky. This is a multi-faceted wine for all occasions.

Food Pairings: Our Verdelho enhances seafood such as scallops, filet of sole or trout. It also excels with niçoise salad, freshly sliced fruits and a variety of cheeses: both savory and creamy.

2021 “The Princess” Rosé

The color is coral pink with distinct violet hues in the meniscus. Fruit aromas are delicate and begin with strawberry, Bing cherry and roses. Flavors are reminiscent of cranberry and pomegranate with hints of kiwi and lemon zest. There is a bright acidity on the palate, followed by a round, velvety texture. The finish is zesty, crisp, clean and refreshing, certainly inviting another glass. A santé!

Food Pairings: This Rosé is excellent with fresh sliced fruits, creamy cheeses, several appetizers, niçoise salad, scallops or with delicate fish courses such as trout or filet of sole.

The color is a deep crimson red with violet hues. The red and black aroma profile consists of raspberry, blackberry, dark chocolate, clove and cinnamon. The flavors are more black fruit: cassis, elderberry, lingonberry and nutmeg. With time and air, the nuances of French oak appear. On the palate, the texture is full, round and smooth with fine grain tannins for aging 10 years or longer.

Calafia 2018 La Reina
The color is deep garnet red with blue and indigo hues. The aromas are almost all black: cassis, blackberry, elderberry, licorice and cardamom. Flavors are similar: currants, dark chocolate, allspice and clove. Supportive French oak nuances come with air and time in the glass. The palate and texture are round, rich, smooth and coating, and the finish shows persistence and fine-grain tannins for structure. Overall, the wine is elegant and restrained yet suitable for over 10 years of bottle aging.
